Documentary: A Midsummer Night's Dream In Prison

At Oregon's Two Rivers Correctional Institution, inmates collaborate with theater director Johnny Stallings to produce Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Filmmaker Bushra Azzouz observes the process, capturing the transformation of the adults in custody as they form meaningful relationships and share personal stories. Her work highlights the common humanity and aspirations shared among individuals, challenging societal perceptions of crime and incarceration.

There will be a Q&A with the actors following the screening on Oct. 25. There will be additional screenings (times TBA) on Oct. 26 and 27.

Open Hearts Open Minds is the Portland, Oregon-based prison arts nonprofit that is offering this film for screening. Arts in prison possess the transformative power to change lives and touch hearts and Open Hearts Open Minds does this right here in Oregon prisons. They're excited to bring this documentary to the Corvallis area.
