The OSU Research Forests, which include Peavy Arboretum, the McDonald-Dunn Forest, and more, are dedicated to supporting the mission of the College of Forestry through teaching, research and engagement. You're invited to personally experience forest ecology and forest management by foot, horseback, or non-motorized bicycle on their roads and trails. You'll find great hiking and biking, bird watching, wildlife, and beautiful views in the OSU Research Forests.
Peavy Arboretum is perfect for shorter, easier hikes, and also provides access into the greater trail system in McDonald-Dunn Forest for those interested in more challenging hikes. The Arboretum hosts trailheads and walking paths open to the public, the George Brown Logging Sports Arena. Pack a picnic to enjoy by the ponds, and enjoy strolls through giant sequoias and western red cedars.
McDonald-Dunn Forest offers almost 30 miles of excellent trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding through old and new growth forest. Enjoy amazing views, find wildflowers, and enjoy the beauty of the forest.
