Each year we encourage all participating artists to take a trip to Oregon’s wonderful national park, Crater Lake. Although it’s not a requirement, the experience and feeling of the moment when you reach the crater’s rim or turn the corner to another wonder, all reflect in the expression of the art. Those moments and feelings are what the 2nd Annual Crater Lake Show & Experience will capture and share with viewers.

Sean Davis Presents ‘The Wax Bullet War’
Sep 18 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Sean Davis Presents 'The Wax Bullet War' @ Corvallis | Oregon | United States

Sean Davis is a visual artist whose memoir, The Wax Bullet War, chronicles his experiences in the Iraq War shortly after 9/11. After surviving an ambush in which one of his best friends was killed, Sean was sent back to the United States.

After recovering physically from his critical wounds, he found himself still bearing deep psychological scars, and fell into a deep, self-destructive depression — a fate that is, tragically, not uncommon amongst returned veterans. Sean had been in art school and dropped out before the war—but after hitting rock bottom, he began to paint again. It was through creating art that Sean was able recover from his trauma and restore purpose to his life.

Sean holds an MFA in writing from Pacific University, and is an adjunct writing teacher for colleges around the Portland area. He is a regular contributor to Nailed Magazine and The Good Men Project. He also works in theater. Lately, he has served as the veterans service coordinator for the war-related opera “Canticle of the Black Madonna,” which is opening at the Newmark Theater in September. He has also produced, acted, and written for the stage.

His paintings currently hang in the Six Days Gallery in the Alberta Arts District in Portland. In addition to creative pursuits, Sean does volunteer work on outreach and support for homecoming veterans.
